Health and safety

HEALTH MANAGEMENT

Thanks to the school’s partnership with Samitivej international clinic and its French director Dr. Cattin, the entire LFIR team is trained in first aid and receives regular medical check-ups in order to ensure the children’s safety.  As in France, children also receive a medical check-up at the end of preschool (GS / Kindergarten) and primary school (CM2 / Grade 5).

In case of medical emergencies and according to the school’s procedures, the emergency contact given for the child at the start of the school year is called first. If necessary,  Samitivej clinic takes care of the student immediately.

Small injuries can be treated by first-aid trained staff ; a first aid kit is available on each campus and taken on school trips.

Students are encouraged to wash their hands regularly, and reminded to drink water throughout the day. Water fountains are available in all classrooms and near the playgrounds.

PARENTS’ RESPONSIBILITIES

Civil liability insurance is compulsory for each child and a certificate of insurance must be given at the time of registration.

It is imperative that emergency contact information is kept up-to-date so that a guardian can be contacted at all times in the event of a health issue at school.

Children who are sick or have a fever should not be taken to school in order to minimise the risk of contagion, as well as any discomfort for the child. If a child has a fever, it is often a sign of contagious disease; by not sending the child to school, the spread of the disease will be limited.

CORONAVIRUS IN SOUTH EAST ASIA

The LFIR is in close contact with the French Embassy in Myanmar, its medical services, and the AEFE regarding the evolution of Covid-19 in the region. A hygiene protocol was set up in the early stages of the pandemic and can be put into place immediately if necessary.

To learn more about the school’s health and safety protocols, contact the Secretariat at secretaire@lfir.org.

SECURITY

In close collaboration with the security services of the French Embassy in Myanmar, the LFIR updated the PPMS (Individual Security Plan) for each campus. These documents give instructions to all personnel concerning all risks (fire, earthquake, intrusion, etc.) and exercises take place periodically. The French Embassy’s Head of Security regularly inspects the school to ensure safety criteria are met.

A professional security team is present at all times, with extra security during school hours to ensure the safety of all.
