GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
The LFIR is open to students of all backgrounds and nationalities. Children do not need to speak French to join the LFIR, even in the later stages of primary school : in fact, over two thirds of current students joined the school with no previous knowledge of French !
The school currently welcomes students from the “Toute Petite Section” of preschool (age 2) to the first year of middle school (age 11-12). New students can join throughout the school year, depending on their previous school experience as well as availability, since class sizes are limited to offer a better learning experience.
AGE GUIDELINES
Students are usually placed in the grade corresponding to their year of birth, as shown in the table below.
According to the child’s stage of development, specific needs and previous school experience, and after consultation with the teachers and director, parents may be advised to let their child attend a different grade, with the best interests of the child in mind.
The age guidelines for the 2023-2024 academic year (which starts on September 1) are as follows :

Please note that the tuition fees vary according to the child’s grade, as described here.
