With a majority of international students (currently 65% of all students) and 15 nationalities represented, the LFIR offers a truly international environment in Yangon.
2. HIGH-STANDARD EDUCATION
The LFIR follows the internationally-recognised French curriculum from preschool through high school, preparing students for the best schools and Universities around the world.
3. GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES
Thanks to the excellence of the French education system and the invaluable intercultural skills gained at the LFIR, students can confidently join other international education systems, including for higher education. “Le baccalauréat”, the French high school diploma, is highly regarded and accepted by the best Universities worldwide. For those studying in France, scholarships are available.
4. OFFICIAL ACCREDITATION
The LFIR is fully accredited by the French Ministry of Education and regularly audited to guarantee high standards.
5. NON-PROFIT
100% of school fees are spent on the school, and the Association of Parents oversees the school management. This unique set-up ensures that decisions are made according to what is best for the children, the families, and the school.
6. KIND AND CARING
A recent audit by a school inspector from the French Education Ministry concluded that “the students are happy to learn, in a climate of trust and welcoming premises”, and “genuine kindness and attentive care is given to the children”.
7. SUPPORTIVE AND FLEXIBLE
The same audit found that “each student benefits from personalised support” : the school excels at creating a climate of trust and a supportive learning environment for all children, and small class sizes allow for personalised and flexible teaching.
8. DEDICATED
Teachers were found to be “happy to work in the school and proud of the work that is carried out”. At the heart of the LFIR is its team, from these experienced and committed teachers to its dedicated support staff.
9. COMMITTED TO MYANMAR
The LFIR has grown from the French school which opened in 1993. Its director Valérie has been teaching children in Myanmar for over 25 years ; other teachers have been living in the country for several years. The LFIR was the first school to reopen for in-person classes in 2021, with all teachers based in Yangon.
10. AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
A wide variety of extra-curricular activities are offered starting from preschool, including sports, arts and technology. These are a great opportunity for students to discover new disciplines and develop new interests. They take place within the school grounds and are supervised by LFIR assistant teachers, providing convenience and peace of mind to parents.
